How can you make a tasty and healthy smoothie?


Depending on the ingredients they are made with, smoothies can quickly turn into an unhealthy calorie-filled drink, full of sugar and saturated fat. 

A healthy and delicious smoothie should be a blend of ingredients that contain protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Step 1: Choose a base 

(approx. 250-300 ml)
  • Nut milk (almond milk, coconut milk, cashew milk)
  • Semi-skimmed milk
  • Water
 

Step 2: Add fruits / vegetables

Add 2-3 servings of fruits / vegetables. This can be fresh or frozen.

  • Berries - strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries
  • Other fruits - banana, apple, mango, pineapple, kiwi, avocado
  • Vegetable - kale, spinach, carrot, cucumber

Step 3: Thicken the smoothie

Create the right consistency and creaminess while making the smoothie more nutritious. Consider portion size, as some of these ingredients are high in calories
  • Low-fat yogurt (no added sugar)
  • Oatmeal
  • Chia seed
  • Nut butters (peanuts, almonds, cashews).
  • Ice cubes


Step 4: Power boost

Take your smoothie to the next level by increasing the protein and omega 3 levels.


Step 5: Flavor the smoothie


Use these ingredients for a healthy flavor boost.
  • Spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger)
  • Fresh mint
  • Skimmed cocoa powder
  • Vanilla extract
  • Honey
